Dennis Nance received his BA from Austin College in Sherman, TX with a concentration in Fine Arts and French. He recently got into sewing and makes clothing and costumes for both every day wear and special occasions. Nance is a native Houstonian with extensive experience working with artists and exhibitions for Houston-area arts organizations and is currently Exhibitions & Programming Director for Lawndale Art Center. Prior to joining Lawndale’s staff he participated in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program and worked for the Consulate General of Japan at Houston. He is a past member of BOX13 ArtSpace and a recent recipient of an Idea Fund Grant, administered through Aurora Picture Show, DiverseWorks Artspace and Project Row Houses and funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and an Individual Artist Grant from the Houston Arts Alliance for the Project Cast of Characters that included an exhibition at BOX13 ArtSpace in September 2015.
